Places To Ride

Hybrid/Family Rides

Looking for somewhere to take the family for a casual bike ride? We've created a list of local and greater west Michigan bike trails.

Road Rides

When you are from out of town it can be hard to find good roads to ride. Rock 'n' Road Cycle has compiled a list of a few routes that are, in our opinions, the best roads. Most of the routes start from Rock 'n' Road's front door, so you have to modify your route from wherever you are starting!

Mountain Rides

If you are wondering what Southwest Michigan has to offer for mountain biking you have found the place!

BMX Racing

Good places for BMX riding is always hard to find. Unfortunately, South Haven doesn't allow BMX bikers to use the skate park. However, there is a new light in the room! A non profit group has constructed a BMX track just outside of Bangor. Bangor is 12 miles outside of South Haven. The track is holding weekly open track nights every Friday at 6pm.

Southwest Michigan Road Routes and Rides

Recommended Rides From The Store

The following road routes have been put together by the riders from the store. They are written with the store as the starting location so if you are starting from somewhere else you will have to modify your route choice accordingly. These routes may also be done using hybrid or mountain bicycles.

Thursday Night Ride

This is Rock 'n' Road Cycle of South Haven's rider choice for mountain biking in the area. Skill range is very broad so riders don't have to be experienced to have a good time. Located near Battle Creek, Michigan.

The Thursday night ride is generally social. Some nights the faster riders will pull off the front for a faster paced ride averaging speeds above 20 MPH. The remaining riders who usually ride below the 20 MPH pace will stick together to ensure that all riders return home safely and are not left behind somewhere they may not know how to get home.

The ride route varies each week and is usually dictated by the wind direction and group consensus. Distance also varies depending on the number of riders, time of year, and experience level of the riders.

It is recommended that participants are riding road bikes.

The Thursday Night Ride departs from the South Haven Wellness Center located on M-43 just south of downtown at 6pm sharp. It is always recommended to show up about 15 minutes early to meet the riders, gain an idea of where the ride will be going, and about what diestnace the ride will be.

To get to the wellness center from downtown, head south on Broadway about a half mile. You will see the State Police Station on the right and a Quick Stop convenience store on the left. At this point merge left onto M-43 (soft left). The wellness center will be about a third of a mile down on the right.

Coming from the highway north or south, use exit 20. From the exit ramp turn west (towards the lake) to the second stop light. At the second light turn left and follow the directions above for heading south of town.
